Logo and identity for TRUK, a collaborative creative platform to connect the designers of Turkey and the UK. The invitation of the first event is designed to reflect the bilingual identity on the layout by breaking down the logo. Printed with Risograph on an A3 fold-out poster.

Proposal for a logo pitch to create the logo of Eyup Municipality, one of Istanbul's districts. The lettering of the logo reflects the historical monuments of the area - the Byzantian walls surrounding the district and the Eyup Sultan Mosque built in 1458 - both being the major distinctive structures of the area. The lettering of the logo is further developed into a display typeface.

Series of information signs with custom ornamental lettering: 20 speed limit, Hospital, Fire Exit, Information and Parking. Exhibited at the Adorn Show as part of London Design Festival 2010.

Sans serif version of the Bodoni typeface. The idea was to remove the serifs from the letters and make them rounded while keeping the essence of the original letters. The resulting typeface is characterised by its distinctive curves replacing the original serifs and strong contrasts in the stroke weight.

A font to create a consistent system of abbreviations across the digital media where character limit is vital. It automatically creates abbreviations as the user types by substituting ligatures for the most used pairs of letters in English.

Zeybek is a typeface inspired by the figures of a folk dance with the same name, a regional dance of the western Anatolia.

Builder is a modular typeface which includes deconstructed pieces of individual letters of four different typefaces cut out of four different materials: Garamond - wood, Futura - cardboard, Bodoni - cork and Rockwell - acrylic. The typecase also includes the character set and a manual.

Didem is an independent designer working on visual identity, logo development, custom lettering and typeface design projects.
After graduating from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London with a degree in Graphic Design, she worked as a designer with Company and Penguin Group alongside her freelance projects. While in London, she also collaborated with Ipek Altunmaral and organised small-scale design talks in Istanbul under the name of TRUK. In autumn 2010, Didem decided that she misses a warmer climate and moved to her hometown Istanbul to pursue her freelance career further.
She also keeps a lettering diary.
